CamCreatives is a fabulous free meetup in Cambridge and in January 2026 welcomed Heath Kane (ex graphic designer, now contemporary artist and legend) with a packed audience in The Blue Moon.

‘Make or break’ led us through his journey of taking the leap from leaving a great 6 figure job as a data visualiser to becoming a full-time artist whose ambition is that his work both challenges and creates a smile in the mind.

Famous for his ‘Rich enough to be Batman’ series of prints (so successful, a special exhibition was put on with proceeds going to charities like the Big Issue and the Single Homeless Project) with portraits of the late Queen wearing a Batman mask, alluding to the drive towards philanthropy versus the baser instinct for greed within the successful echelons of society and encouraged by their success, and his ‘Portraits of heroes’ prints he took the leap to becoming a full-time artist …just as Covid hit. But it was a relief, he had ‘no pressure’ time to work and as people couldn’t spend their money going out, spare cash could go on something for the wall!

His work holds up a mirror to the unjust. A stick pointing and poking. Using semantics, semiotics, allegory and a favourite design tool of masks to make images that tell stories of what riles him, and probably you too. He also did a marvellous set of book jackets for a George Orwell collection from Penguin Vintage Classics.

‘I will continue to create more art that brings awareness to the societal rifts that politics creates. I hope to ridicule these divisions whilst trying to create more tolerance and understanding for each other.

Let’s work together in making the world better. Not just for ourselves, but for everyone.’
