Flouncy

 

Flouncy is a wave bursting in reds, oranges and pinks for maximum happiness. And is what I call a ‘Colourama’ which is a recurring theme for me.

Colour has such huge power to change our mood and combined with movement creates a powerful visual feeling. I come to the blank canvas with an idea of the colours I want to use and practise my strokes before diving in. I’ve been practising Tai Chi for a while and enjoy the concentration and stillness that I’m learning to bring into my work.

My intent is that these paintings help you to get lost in a feeling.

Flouncy is available in its display frame (see Blue Milou) as it was recently on show at the Glass House, Cambridge.

I mostly paint first thing in the morning after walking the dog, and paint until I have got the feeling down. I’ll keep coming back during the day, or days after to see what needs tweaking, taking care not to lose the energy.
