Falling indigo

£375.00

‘Falling indigo’ is the fifth in a series of five paintings playing with the idea of falling. As I had almost a whole rainbow, I had to do this one. It’s slightly different because to make the base colour of indigo lighter I added white and the falling block became quite grey, so the overall feeling became more of rising or bobbing to the surface rather than sinking or falling. I dropped the ‘into the’ in the title as indigo sounds like in-di (like ‘you’)-go ;D

Colour has such huge power to change our mood and combined with movement creates a powerful visual feeling. I come to the blank canvas with an idea of the colours I want to use and practise my strokes before diving in. I’ve been practising Tai Chi for a while and enjoy the concentration and stillness that I’m learning to bring into my work.

My intent is that these paintings help you to get lost in a feeling. Like falling.

Photographed in natural light. Colours may look a bit different in real life, but have done my best to visually colour match! This was also hard to photograph, but this is about right!
