Description
‘Falling’ is the first in a series of five paintings playing with the idea of falling. This one has an orange base with greys overpainted. It was the first in the series and was an investigation into how the grey changed to a lilac hue when skimmed over the orange which I noticed in Horizon 13. It is the most worked of the series, probably because it was the first and I didn’t stick with the greys, but the format stays the same.
Colour has such huge power to change our mood and combined with movement creates a powerful visual feeling. I come to the blank canvas with an idea of the colours I want to use and practise my strokes before diving in. I’ve been practising Tai Chi for a while and enjoy the concentration and stillness that I’m learning to bring into my work.
My intent is that these paintings help you to get lost in a feeling. Like falling.
16 x 20 inch Acrylic on canvas board.
Photographed in natural light. Colours may look a bit different in real life, but have done my best to visually colour match! And this one was difficult to photograph, maybe because of the greys – IDK!
Frame for display. Painting is UNFRAMED.
