Description
This is what I call a ‘Colourama’ which is a recurring theme for me.
Colour has such huge power to change our mood and combined with movement creates a powerful visual feeling. I come to the blank canvas with an idea of the colours I want to use and practise my strokes before diving in. I’ve been practising Tai Chi for a while and enjoy the concentration and stillness that I’m learning to bring into my work.
My intent is that these paintings help you to get lost in a feeling.
Maahree is an explosion of reds and pinks with a streak of gold. It was made in November after the joy of Diwali and celebrates my cousin Marie – pronounced ‘Maahree’, who was a force of nature. Bold colour, fluid movement — my Colourama series aims to brings energy and warmth to any space, just like Marie.
16 x 20 inch Acrylic on canvas board.
Photographed in natural light. Colours may look a bit different in real life, but have done my best to visually colour match!
